How many times have you wished for an extra hour in every day? Many writers lament never having enough time to get done everything they need to do in each day. Perhaps you’re one of those writers who simply wants to find a way to increase the income you earn from your freelance business?

The simple truth is that we can all dramatically increase our productivity levels by utilizing some effective time management techniques. With freelance writing, productivity can often equate to profitability.

Have you ever begun researching a particular topic only to find yourself surfing the ‘net on unrelated topics instead? Imagine if you’d spent that time finishing the assignment you were supposed to have been doing instead.

One of the biggest joys of working at home is that you have the freedom to plan out our day to suit our own preferences. Unfortunately one of the biggest drawbacks for many freelance writers is never having enough time in each day to get everything done.

So many writers find that constant distractions during each day stop you from doing the one thing you wanted to be at home doing. Writing! Working from home has a unique set of distractions that don’t affect those working from an office. The problem with many of these types of distractions is that they’re so subtle that you often don’t even see them creeping in to steal valuable time from your working day.

When you consider that a professional freelance writer earns income through selling your writing efforts, can you really afford not to be doing the one thing that generates your income?

Learning to manage your time more effectively means you really can find enough time to write one more article or research one more writing market to submit your work to. Time management also means learning to schedule time for the fun stuff too.

Never fall for the idea that time management is the same as making a simple ‘to-do’ list – although creating a list of daily tasks you need to accomplish is an important part of being more organized. There’s a lot more to learn about managing your time effectively.

Once you understand how easy learning to manage your time can be, you’ll wonder how you ever got anything done before!
